Job summary

Kroger Family of Companies in Michigan is seeking an energetic cashier/checker to deliver outstanding customer service at the lane. You will greet customers, engage with them, and help with their needs.

You will process transactions quickly and accurately, operate the POS system, handle cash, checks, credit and debit, and follow store policies to ensure a safe, clean, welcoming environment for all shoppers.

Qualifications

• Customer service experience is required.
• Strong communication skills with customers.
• Basic math skills (counting, addition, subtraction) required.

Responsibilities

• Greet, engage and assist customers at the checkout lane.
• Process transactions quickly, accurately and efficiently.
• Understand POS system and handle cash, checks, credit/debit, SNAP EBT, WIC, coupons and loyalty offers.
• Adhere to company policies on cash shortages/overages and loss prevention.
• Follow guidelines for restricted sale items (Alcohol, Tobacco, DVDs).
• Report pricing discrepancies to the Scan Coordinator.
• Follow policies for postage stamps, gift cards and coupons.
• Stay current with ads and promotions.
• Adhere to food safety regulations and guidelines.
• Reinforce safety programs and report unsafe conditions to management.
• Inspect equipment and notify management of repairs needed.
• Answer questions about products to help customers across the store.
• Follow all laws and company guidelines and work cooperatively in a fast-paced environment.
