Job summary

Hy-Vee is seeking a Checker to greet customers, operate the register, and assist throughout the store to ensure a positive shopping experience. You’ll handle payments, help with bagging, and support promotions and store safety.

This hourly role rewards strong customer service and teamwork, with a starting wage within the posted range. Training is provided, and employment is contingent on a pre-employment screen.

Qualifications

• Follow detailed written or verbal instructions.
• Perform arithmetic calculations involving fractions, decimals, and percentages.
• Understand and follow verbal or demonstrated directions and communicate supply needs orally or in writing.
• Work effectively as part of a team to deliver a great customer experience.

Responsibilities

• Provide prompt, friendly customer service by greeting customers with a smile.
• Operate the cash register accurately, scanning product and processing all payment types.
• Count back change, issue receipts, and provide refunds or credit memos as needed.
• Comply with local, state, and federal guidelines regarding WIC, food stamps, and tobacco/liquor/lottery sales.
• Stock, bag merchandise, assist with carry-out, and support store operations.
