Job summary

Fiesta Mart, part of the Chedraui USA group, is hiring a Checker at the Austin I-35 South store to deliver friendly, fast service and uphold store standards.

Under supervision, you will handle cash register operations, help customers, and support safe, accurate transactions in a fast-paced grocery environment. Bilingual abilities (Spanish/English) and basic computer skills are appreciated.

Qualifications

• Read and write Spanish/English, interact with customers and co-workers.
• Read and comprehend simple instructions, product labels, shelf tags, memos.
• Write simple correspondence.
• Present information in one-on-one or small group settings to customers.
• Follow written or oral instructions with common sense.
• Able to lift up to 60 pounds occasionally; maintain physical stamina.

Responsibilities

• Provide excellent customer service and assist customers at the check-out.
• Operate the cash register quickly and accurately.
• Safeguard company assets and maintain point-of-sale standards.
• Stand, bend, and move as required in a fast-paced grocery environment.

The Opportunity

Under direct supervision of the Front End Supervisor, the Checker is responsible for maintaining outstanding customer service as per company standards, processing sales quickly, accurately and efficiently, performing cash register operations and safeguarding company assets. Must be able to bend, stand and stoop for prolonged periods of times. The working environment is typical for a fast-paced grocery store, and essential functions of this job include physical requirements such as lifting, standing, walking and kneeling as well as visual and auditory requirements.
