TRAC Intermodal in Bedford Park, IL is seeking a 2nd shift Chassis Mechanic to perform mechanical repairs and inspections on chassis and container equipment from a Mobile Service Unit. The role involves brake work, welding, cutting with a torch, and replacing parts per supervisor estimates and roadability needs.

You will operate outdoors in varied weather, maintain inventory, adhere to safety rules, and communicate with management about space and backlog.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• 2+ years of chassis mechanic experience.
• Ability to pass pre-employment drug screening.
• Knowledge of FMCSA rules and criteria.
• Able to work independently without direct supervision.
• Ability to work outdoors in extreme weather conditions.

Responsibilities

• Perform FMCSA chassis inspections.
• Repair chassis and container chassis of all types.
• Perform light container repairs.
• Change tires as necessary.
• Maintain parts inventory.
• Adhere to safety rules and regulations.
• Communicate with management on space, backlog, and inventory issues.
• Work and repair chassis according to TRAC guidelines.
