Job summary

TRAC Services in Bedford Park, IL is seeking a Chassis Mechanic for the 2nd shift (2:30 PM – 10:30 PM) to perform mechanical repairs and inspections in a rail yard environment from a Mobile Service Unit. You will handle brake jobs, welding, cutting with a torch, and chassis part replacement according to repair guidelines.

Requirements include a High School Diploma or GED, at least 2 years in chassis mechanics, welding experience (MIG/ARC), and the ability to work outdoors in all weather.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Ability to meet TRAC driver’s license standards.
• Able to pass pre-employment drug screening.
• At least 2 years of experience in chassis mechanics.
• Experience with MIG and/or ARC welding is required.

Responsibilities

• Perform FMCSA chassis inspections.
• Repair container chassis of all types.
• Change tires as necessary.
• Maintain parts inventory.
• Adhere to safety rules and regulations.
• Communicate with management on workload and inventory.
• Repair chassis per TRAC guidelines.
