Hafnia in Houston is seeking a commercially driven Chartering Manager/Senior Manager to lead Americas chartering efforts, optimizing the pool fleet across MR, LR1 and LR2 segments in spot and time charters for CPP, DPP and chemicals.
You will collaborate with global teams in Copenhagen, Singapore and Dubai, develop market strategies, and negotiate fixtures to maximize TCE while minimizing idle time, with a strong emphasis on cross-departmental processes and continuous improvement.
Are you interested in working in one of the world’s leading tanker shipping companies where our “People-First’ mindset and ambitions towards a more sustainable maritime future promote a strong commercial mindset and performance-based culture?
Then join our Chartering team.
At Hafnia, we transport energy resources around the globe. With a strong commitment to sustainability, safety and innovation, Hafnia is built on our values of Collaboration, Ambition, Reliability, and Enduring where every team member is empowered to contribute to our mission and make a difference.
Our long-term approach is founded on the principle of a commercial mindset, integrity and putting people first. That is how we have become one of the leading ship owners and operators of today’s tanker industry globally.
We are looking for a commercially driven, analytical and ambitious Chartering Manager / Senior Manager to join our Commercial team in Houston.
You will be a part of a global Commercial team and work closely with colleagues in our Copenhagen, Singapore, and Dubai offices, as well as with our Operations and Technical teams.
The main responsibility of this role is vessel chartering with a key focus on the Americas market: marketing and employing the Hafnia Pool fleet across our MR, LR1 and LR2 segments in the spot and time charter markets, covering CPP, DPP and chemical cargoes.
You will recommend and execute commercial strategies for the pool vessels, including charter market outlooks and future trades, and through continued measurement ensure that the targets set are met, suggesting alternative tactics where required. You will also recommend FFAs (freight forward agreements) and derivatives in the relevant market segments.
The focus is always on optimizing the TCE: employing vessels in the spot market to secure the highest possible income while optimizing laden/ballast ratios and minimizing idle time, negotiating spot fixtures and time charters to achieve optimal returns for principals, and driving IMO 2-3 chemical cargoes.
Alongside this, you will help ensure a common understanding of each department’s contribution to our goals, continue improving cross-departmental processes, and take an active part in the continuous improvement of our departmental procedures and quality management system.
We will be interviewing throughout the application period and may close the position once we have found the right candidate.
Job start date is flexible and will be discussed.
