Job summary

Ren is seeking an Associate, Charitable Compliance to support its charitable compliance program in New York. The role conducts compliance testing, maintains documentation, and collaborates with policy owners to strengthen practices across Ren and its charitable partners.

The ideal candidate has a bachelor’s degree, 2+ years in compliance or related fields, strong analytical and written/verbal communication skills, and familiarity with charitable regulations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required in business, finance, accounting, public administration, nonprofit management, legal studies, or a related field.
• Advanced degree or professional certification a plus (MBA, MPA, CPA, CIA, CCEP, CRM, RIMS-CRMP).
• 2+ years of experience in compliance, audit, risk management, nonprofit or related field.
• Familiarity with IRC §§4966, 4967, 170, and 501(c)(3); awareness of UPMIFA helpful.
• Experience supporting compliance testing, monitoring, documentation, policies, procedures, or controls.
• Strong analytical, research, and written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Support §4966 and §4967 compliance testing and monitoring — compile and document facts for review by senior staff.
• Review §170 substantiation for complex asset contributions — check appraiser documentation and IRS forms; report inconsistencies.
• Assist with client and partner policy reviews—gift acceptance, IUPMIFA, granting policies; help update policies and procedures.
• Research IRS, Treasury, and state developments affecting DAFs, sponsors, and charities.
• Help develop, maintain, and document compliance testing methodologies, processes, and templates.
• Prepare reports on testing results; recommend policy improvements and ensure remediation.
• Support client deliverables and presentations with Sr. Director/Manager Charitable Compliance.
• Coordinate with vendors for state charitable registrations and annual audits for good standing.
• Build relationships with internal stakeholders and use AI tools to improve testing and reporting.
