Job summary

Texas Health Resources seeks a Charge RN for the PCU at Texas Health Southwest in Fort Worth, TX. This PRN/day shift leadership role oversees a 36-bed unit with telemetry, stroke care, and a focus on patient safety.

You will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, participate in governance, and pursue ongoing professional growth within a Magnet facility and Level III Trauma Center.

Qualifications

• BCLS certification required
• ACLS due within 90 days of hire
• CPI training within 90 days of hire
• NIHSS training within 90 days of hire
• 1+ year RN experience in acute care required
• PCU experience strongly preferred

Responsibilities

• Communicate and collaborate with all members of the health care team
• Support and actively participate in shared governance/councils
• Commit to developing knowledge and skills and lifelong learning
• Evaluate the effectiveness of interventions
• Directly assist leadership on a unit by offering staff guidance and ensuring a clean, safe work environment

Work hours: PRN/per diem, Days

Department Highlights

• 36 bed PCU Department; Nurse/Patient Ratio: 1:4 depending on acuity
• Patient population: intermediate /telemetry level of care for the post-acute stroke, general medical, endocrine GI/renal patient population

Here’s what you need

• Nursing Diploma or Associate Degree in Nursing required; BSN preferred
• Current RN licensure or compact licensure recognized by the Texas Board of Nursing upon hire
• BCLS - prior to providing independent patient care and maintained quarterly
• ACLS - within 90 days of hire
• CPI - Crisis Prevention Intervention Training - within 90 days of hireNIHSS - within 90 days of hire
• 1-year experience as a registered nurse in an acute care setting required
• 2-years' experience as a registered nurse in an acute care setting preferred
• Current PCU experience strongly preferred

• maintain a positive, customer-focused attitude toward patients
• possess a strong work ethic and always display a high level of professionalism
• have basic computer skills using Medical management application systems
