Job summary

Houston Methodist is seeking a Charge Nurse to lead and mentor nursing staff within a dynamic patient care environment. This role requires clinical expertise and a coach-like approach to develop colleagues across the unit and service line.

Responsibilities include coordinating care, ensuring documentation accuracy, guiding staff performance, and partnering with physicians and the interprofessional team to deliver high-quality patient outcomes.

Qualifications

• Graduate of education program approved by the credentialing body for the required credential(s) indicated below in the Certifications, Licenses and Registrations section
• Twenty four months of clinical nursing experience with demonstration of progressive leadership skills
• RN license in Texas with required and compact licensure/transfer prerequisites
• BLS certification (adult) required; NIH Stroke Scale certification within 4 months; Magnet certification preferred

Responsibilities

• Leads unit and shared governance activities and coordinates nursing care across the shift
• Mentors department staff and coordinates unit and hospital-wide education with management
• Assists in developing staff skills and knowledge; role models compassionate communication with physicians and interprofessional team
• Drives patient care quality, safety and efficiency, and maintains nursing documentation and dashboards
