Job summary

Houston Methodist is seeking a Charge Nurse (RN) who works as a seasoned clinician at the Competent to Proficient stage, guiding safe patient care and serving as a role model and coach for department staff. Qualifications

• RN with licensure in Texas and PSV Compact; must obtain permanent Texas license within 60 days (if establishing Texas residency)
• BLS and ACLS certifications required; NIH Stroke Scale certification within 4 months
• Minimum 24 months of clinical nursing experience with progressive leadership

Responsibilities

• Fosters staff engagement through active listening, feedback, and equitable decisions.
• Coaches staff to communicate effectively and participate in staff performance reviews.
• Functions as mentor and resource to unit staff and oversees student/preceptorships.
• Drives department service standards and improves patient satisfaction through leadership and accountability.
