Job summary

Advocate Health Care in Downers Grove, IL is seeking an experienced RN with charge nurse responsibilities to lead a surgical services unit, supervise staff, assign duties, and ensure safe, high-quality patient care.

You will collaborate with physicians and department leaders, monitor staffing, and promote quality and safety initiatives while organizing workflows across care transitions.

Qualifications

• Graduate from an accredited school of nursing.
• ADN acceptable with agreement to enroll in BSN completion program in two years to be completed in five years.
• 2 years RN experience
• 1 Year Charge Nurse Experience
• Current CPR and certifications/education required for the nursing specialty

Responsibilities

• Role models professional behaviors and collaborative communication.
• Assigns registered nurses and staff to patient care activities with appropriate delegation.
• Provides peer accountability through coaching for problem solving and quality/safety measures.
• Manages patient delays and uses chain of command when necessary.
• Promotes staff recognition and advances unit management.
• Anticipates day-to-day staffing needs and collaborates with management.
• Updates staffing changes in Advocateworks and reviews staffing with management.
• Coordinates support services to promote safe environment of care.
• Directs patient throughput and workflows to promote safety and patient satisfaction.
• Collaborates with other Perianesthesia departments for staffing.
