Job summary

Lovelace Women’s Hospital in Albuquerque, NM is seeking a night shift Med/Surg Charge Nurse to lead the nursing team and ensure safe, high‑quality patient care. The role requires an Associate’s Degree or Diploma of Nursing, NM RN license, CPR, and BLS; experience as a charge nurse is preferred.

Qualifications

• Associate’s Degree or Diploma of Nursing is required.
• RN license in NM or NM compact license within 90 days of hire.
• CPR and BLS certifications are required or obtained within 14 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Responsible and accountable for the practice of professional nursing in the assigned area.
• Manage patient flow and efficient use of supplies and equipment.
• Collaborate with unit managers/directors to develop and revise unit policies and procedures.
• Serve as the departmental liaison with patients, providers and staff.
• Adhere to policies and regulations to ensure patient safety.

Responsibilities

• Responsible and accountable for the practice of Professional Nursing, including the nursing management of the patient and staff of assigned area in his/her charge.
• Manages efficient patient flow, appropriate use of supplies and other operational functions.
• Collaborates with the unit managers and/or directors in developing and revising unit policies, procedures, and protocols.
• Serves as departmental liaison and first line of contact with patients, providers and staff.
• Adheres to policies and procedures and regulations to ensure compliance and patient safety.

Qualifications

Job Requirements:

• Minimum: Associate’s Degree or Diploma of Nursing
• One (1) year of Charge Nurse experience in hospital setting OR more than one year of clinical or management experience.
• CPR
• BLS certification must be obtained within 14 days of hire or transfer into the role and prior to providing direct patient care.
• Valid NM Nursing license or NM compact license (within 90 days of hire)
