Job summary

Capitol River Wellness & Rehabilitation is seeking a dependable Charge Nurse (RN or LPN) to join our nursing team. The Charge Nurse coordinates care, supervises staff, maintains resident safety, and ensures high-quality care on the assigned unit.

This role is ideal for an experienced RN or LPN who enjoys leadership and working with residents, families, and an interdisciplinary healthcare team. Current active RN or LPN license required; long-term care experience preferred.

Job description

We are seeking a dependable and compassionate Charge Nurse (RN or LPN) to join our nursing team. The Charge Nurse is responsible for coordinating nursing care, supervising nursing staff, maintaining resident safety, and ensuring high-quality care is provided throughout the assigned unit.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) who enjoys a leadership role and working directly with residents, families, and an interdisciplinary healthcare team.

Charge Nurse Responsibilities

• Coordinate and oversee nursing care for residents on the assigned unit

• Ensure resident safety and maintain high standards of nursing care

• Make appropriate nursing assignments based on staff experience and skill level

• Supervise and support nursing staff, including CNAs and other nonprofessional personnel

• Provide guidance to nursing staff and help identify and resolve patient care concerns

• Accurately and promptly implement physician orders

• Monitor residents for changes in condition and promptly notify the physician and appropriate healthcare team members

• Perform nursing assessments and obtain comprehensive resident histories

• Monitor and document vital signs, symptoms, and changes in resident condition

• Develop and update care plans based on resident assessments and needs

• Use care plans to provide safe, effective, and individualized nursing care

• Ensure accurate and timely nursing documentation and communication during shift report

• Follow all nursing standards, facility policies, procedures, and infection-control protocols

• Communicate effectively with residents, families, physicians, nursing staff, and other departments

• Maintain resident confidentiality and professional standards at all times

• Promote positive relationships with residents, families, visitors, and coworkers

• Handle sensitive or emotional situations with professionalism, compassion, and tact

• Help create a positive work environment that supports teamwork, professional growth, and job satisfaction

Qualifications

• Current, active RN or LPN license in the applicable state

• Previous nursing experience preferred; long-term care or skilled nursing experience is a plus

• Strong clinical assessment and critical-thinking skills

• Ability to effectively supervise and communicate with nursing staff

• Ability to follow verbal and written instructions

• Strong organizational and time-management skills

• Ability to prioritize tasks and complete assignments in a timely manner

• Ability to remain professional, flexible, and positive when handling interruptions or changing resident needs

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
