Job summary

Northeastern Nevada Regional Hospital in Elko, NV is seeking a Charge Nurse for the Behavioral Health Unit. You will lead nursing staff, assess patient conditions, document care needs, and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to coordinate transfers and discharges. The role operates on a 3-shift schedule from 6:45 pm to 7:15 am.

Requirements include Nevada RN licensure, an Associate degree, BLS within 14 days, ACLS within 30 days, and at least 1 year of RN experience in an acute hospital.

Qualifications

  • Current Nevada State RN license.
  • Associate's degree from an accredited nursing program.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) within 14 days of hire.
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) within 30 days of hire.
  • Minimum 1 year RN experience in an acute hospital setting.

Responsibilities

  • Proficient in assessing patient conditions and determining patient needs.
  • Implements leadership and team coordination by supervising nursing staff and delegating tasks.
  • Clear, compassionate communication with patients, families, and multidisciplinary teams.
  • Timely documentation of medical necessity in the medical record.
  • Ensure regulatory and quality standards through PI and related initiatives.
  • Coordinate patient care across disciplines including transfers and discharges.

How you'll contribute

  • Proficient in assessing patient conditions and making timely determinations of patient needs.
  • Implements leadership and team coordination by supervising nursing staff, delegating tasks effectively, and ensuring smooth unit operations by providing direct support to all staff members.
  • Clear, compassionate communication with patients, families, and multidisciplinary teams.
  • Performs timely and appropriate documentation relating to medical necessity in the medical record.
  • Facilitate and ensures compliance with regulatory requirements and quality standards through engagement and support of PI and other initiatives.
  • Collaborates as needed across disciplines to coordinate patient care, including patient transfer, discharge, referral and spiritual/psychosocial support needs.

What we are looking for

  • Current Nevada State RN license
