Job Description for Oncology Nurse at UVA Health

Join UVA Health's Acute Inpatient Oncology Unit, located in our newly built South Tower. This 28-room facility specializes in Hematology-Oncology, Gynecology-Oncology, Neuro-Oncology, and Benign Hematology. Responsibilities

1. Support safe throughput and access to care, leading daily operations.
2. Ensure appropriate staffing based on patient needs, collaborating with leadership and staffing resources.
3. Document accurately within labor management software to promote fiscal responsibility.
4. Serve as a resource for team members, ensuring adherence to policies and clinical practices.
5. Facilitate escalation of care as needed, and support a calm, productive work environment.
6. Assist in non-patient care activities, including professional development and practice environment problem-solving.
7. Enhance patient experience through support, rounding, service recovery, and engagement.
8. Promote effective communication and collaboration among team members and departments.
9. Manage the care environment to meet safety and regulatory standards.
10. Facilitate team huddles, use visual management tools, and support quality improvement initiatives.

Position Details

Compensation Range: $46.08 - $61.00 hourly.

Minimum Requirements

• Education: Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing or current enrollment in an accredited BSN/MSN program expected to complete within 5 years.
• Experience: RN Clinician 2 or higher with 6 months on the unit or previous charge nurse experience.
• Licensure: RN license in Virginia and BLS certification from the American Heart Association.

Physical Demands

Standing for prolonged periods, frequent movement, lifting/pushing/pulling 20-50 lbs, and exposure to chemicals and infectious materials.
