Job summary

Camber Mental Health, a subsidiary of KVC Health Systems, is seeking a Charge Nurse for the Night Shift at the Olathe campus to lead pediatric psychiatric care. You will supervise nursing staff, coordinate care with providers, and ensure a safe, therapeutic environment for children and adolescents.

The role requires an active Kansas RN license, 2 years' RN experience, and preferred ANCC Psychiatric Nursing certification.

Qualifications

• Active RN license in Kansas.
• ANCC Psychiatric Nursing Certification preferred.
• Minimum 2 years RN experience.
• Pediatric behavioral health experience.
• Experience with eMAR and EHR.

Responsibilities

• Lead, organize, and direct nursing staff to ensure appropriate staffing ratios and high-quality care.
• Coordinate services with providers, patients, families, and interdisciplinary teams.
• Act as the on-shift leader, maintaining accountability for program operations.
• Monitor program safety and lead crisis response when needed.
• Support staff through coaching, training, and performance feedback.
• Maintain clear, timely, and confidential documentation and communication.
• Provide direct patient care while modeling best practices.
• Participate in staff meetings, committees, and ongoing program development.
• Keep leadership informed of shift activities, concerns, and outcomes.

Position Summary:

The Charge Nurse oversees and coordinates patient care activities during the assigned shift, providing direction to both licensed and non-licensed nursing personnel. This role plays a key part in staff development, performance evaluation, and maintaining a high standard of care. You will serve as the on-site leader in the absence of management, support crisis response efforts, and help ensure a safe, therapeutic environment for all patients.

Education Requirements:

Licensure/Certification Requirements:

Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Kansas

ANCC Psychiatric Nursing Certification preferred

Valid driver’s license and auto insurance required

Experience Requirements:

Minimum 2 years of RN experience

Preferred Experience:

Previous charge nurse or leadership experience

Pediatric behavioral health experience

Experience with electronic medication administration records (eMAR) and electronic health records (EHR)

Shift Differentials:

• Eligible for weekend differential ($2/hr), evening differential ($3/hr), and preceptor differential ($2/hr)
