Job summary

Dignity Health’s Chandler Regional Medical Center, a 443-bed acute care hospital, seeks a Medical Surgical Acute Charge RN to oversee frontline nurses and advocate for the team’s development. You will lead in 1:1 and group settings, handling difficult conversations and guiding staff toward excellence.

Required: RN license in AZ, 2+ years in acute care or charge roles, BLS; ACLS within 6 months; BSN preferred.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in Nursing required; 2+ years RN experience in acute care/charge nurse role preferred.
• AZ RN license upon hire; Basic Life Support (BLS) required; Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) within 6 months.

Responsibilities

• Mentor staff on competency, documentation, equipment use, plan of care and patient safety.
• Evaluate care provided by staff and coach for improvement; maintain standard of care.
• Provide direct patient care as needed.
• Coordinate patient flow on the unit to ensure timely care.
• Attend hospital bed board meetings and participate in ethics discussions.

Job Summary and Responsibilities

As a Medical Surgical Acute Charge RN, you'll oversee a department of frontline nurses caring for patients. Your previous experience in acute care, LTC, or nursing homes adds tremendous value to our nursing team.

Every day you will advocate for your fellow nurses as you support them in reaching their full potential, which aligns with your department's operational goals and objectives.

To thrive in this role, you need to be accountable and confident. You're an excellent communicator in 1:1 interactions and in front of groups. It's also important for you to be comfortable holding tough conversations, as you are responsible for the performance of your people and your unit.

• Mentors others in areas such as competency, documentation, equipment use, plan of care, National Patient Safety Goals, and participation in inservice education.
• Evaluates care given by staff, coaches to improve care, and ensures standard of care is maintained.
• Provides direct patient care as needed.
• Exhibits a general understanding of the process for dealing with ethical dilemmas and understands and coordinates the process for obtaining an Ethics Consult.
• Coordinates patient flow on the unit to facilitate the provision of timely and effective care.
• Attends hospital-wide bed board meetings.

Job Requirements

Required

• Associate Of Nursing and Two (2) years RN experience within applicable clinical specialty and/or charge nurse experience
• Registered Nurse: AZ, upon hire
• American Heart Association Basic Life Support
• American Heart Association Advanced Cardiac Life Support, within six (6) months

• Bachelors of Science Nursing

$42.85 - $63.77 /hour
