Job summary

CommonSpirit Health's AZ General Hospital Mesa is seeking a Charge RN to lead a department of frontline nurses delivering compassionate, high-quality care.

You'll mentor staff, ensure standard of care, and advocate for colleagues while coordinating with Mercy Gilbert Medical Center to expand care opportunities within a broad national network.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
• Two years RN experience within applicable clinical specialty.
• Registered Nurse: AZ license.
• American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS).
• American Heart Association Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS).
• BSN and Charge Nurse experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Mentors others in competency, documentation, equipment use, plan of care, and safety goals.
• Provides direct patient care as appropriate to meet patient and department needs.
• Evaluates care given by staff.
• Coaches staff to improve care.
• Ensures standard of care is maintained.
• Coordinates ethics process and refers to Ethics Consult as needed.

Job Summary and Responsibilities

As a Charge RN, you'll oversee a department of frontline nurses caring for patients. Your previous experience in acute care, LTC, or nursing homes adds tremendous value to our nursing team.

Every day you will advocate for your fellow nurses as you support them in reaching their full potential, which aligns with your department's operational goals and objectives.

To thrive in this role, you need to be accountable and confident. You're an excellent communicator in 1:1 interactions and in front of groups. It's also important for you to be comfortable holding tough conversations, as you are responsible for the performance of your people and your unit.

• Mentors others in areas such as competency, documentation, equipment use, plan of care, National Patient Safety Goals (NPSG), and participation in inservice education.
• Provides direct patient care as appropriate to meet the needs of the patients and department.
• Evaluates care given by staff.
• Coaches staff to improve care.
• Ensures standard of care is maintained.
• Exhibits a general understanding of the process for dealing with ethical dilemmas and understands and coordinates the process for obtaining an Ethics Consult.
