Job summary

MercyOne Trinity Health is seeking a Charge Nurse to provide shift-to-shift leadership for a nursing unit, ensuring safe, effective and culturally competent care. You will bridge direct patient care with administrative duties and collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to achieve optimal outcomes.

The role requires a current RN license in Iowa, BLS certification, and experience in a fast-paced clinical setting.

Qualifications

• Possess a current or compact RN license for the State of Iowa.
• Bachelor’s degree in nursing is preferred.
• 12 months RN experience required; 24 months preferred.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 3 months of hire.
• Unit-specific credentialing and education active and in good standing.

Responsibilities

• Develops and maintains departmental daily staffing plan aligned with operations and patient acuity.
• Oversees daily operations, staff management, and interdepartmental coordination for the shift.
• Resolves clinical issues and serves as liaison between nurses, physicians, and admin teams.
• Provides orientation and education for staff and students to ensure quality patient experience.
• Leads staff in delivering safe, effective patient care and collaborates on care plans with physicians.
• Participates in hiring input and staffing decisions as delegated by unit leadership.
