Job summary

Lake Charles Memorial Health System in Lake Charles, LA is seeking a Registered Nurse to provide professional nursing care in collaboration with physicians and the interdisciplinary team. You will assess patients, educate families, develop and implement care plans, and ensure high-quality nursing care across assigned units.

The RN will organize patient care, support admissions, delegate duties, and lead the unit as charge nurse when required.

Qualifications

• Graduate of School of Nursing.
• Current Louisiana RN license or compact state RN license.
• BLS-CPR certified.
• 2 years bedside nursing care, preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Organizes patient care and unit activities with delegated staff.
• Facilitates patient flow and admissions processes.
• Collaborates with interdisciplinary team in planning patient care.
• Communicates with Director to maintain efficient patient flow and staff performance.
• Serves as designated charge nurse on the unit daily.
• Assists in leadership in the absence of Director.
• Accepts direct care assignments per staffing grid.
• Uses nursing process to assess, diagnose, plan, implement, and evaluate care.
• Performs initial assessments and documentation.
• Administers medications competently.
• Educates patients and families; documents appropriately.
• Interprets and implements physician orders.
• Directs and coordinates nursing care and delegates activities by patient needs.
• Knows LSBN Rules of Delegation.
• Makes patient assignments.
• Directs staffing and supervision to ensure high-quality care.
