Job summary

Advocate Aurora Health is seeking a Chaplain for a PRN, part-time frontline role in Illinois. The position includes nights and weekends as needed and pays between $26.55 and $39.85 per hour.

You will collaborate with staff to assess and respond to the spiritual and emotional needs of patients and their families, triage crises, and provide support across faith communities. The role requires a Master’s degree in Religious Studies, Theology, or Divinity and typically one year of ministry experience

Qualifications

• Self-awareness that includes knowledge of one’s feelings, attitudes, values, assumptions, strengths and weaknesses, and how these affect one’s spiritual care.
• Ability to work amidst crisis situations in calm non-anxious manner.
• Ability to maintain appropriate emotional, physical and spiritual boundaries.
• Ability to communicate and document efficiently using electronic media.
• Ability to care spiritually for persons of other or no faith without sharing one’s personal convictions.

Responsibilities

• Collaborates with staff to assess, address and document the spiritual and emotional needs of patients and their families.
• Triage and minister amidst crises, loss and grief.
• Contacts clergy of other faiths as requested by patients and families.
• Provides sacraments as appropriate in their faith and the situation.
• Provides spiritual and emotional support to staff as needed.
• Must be able to demonstrate knowledge of growth and development over the life span and assess data to identify age-specific needs.
