Ascension is seeking a Chaplain for our Spiritual Care department in Austin, TX. The role entails pastoral visitation, leading and assisting with worship and outreach services, and collaborating with hospital staff to address spiritual and emotional needs of patients and families.

The position emphasizes ongoing professional education through Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE), documentation of care, and commitment to compassionate, patient-centered service across multiple facilities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required.
• Master's degree in Theology, Spirituality or related field preferred.
• 1 unit of Clinical Pastoral Education (ACPE) preferred.
• Ordination or equivalency in faith group preferred.

Responsabilités

• Perform pastoral visitation and assist with worship services and outreach.
• Assess spiritual and emotional needs of counseled individuals, including crisis intervention.
• Participate in CPE curriculum and ongoing ministerial development.

How you’ll make an impact in this role

• Perform or assist with performing pastoral visitation, public worship services and outreach services in assigned areas or to specific faith groups.
• Assist with assessing and responding to the spiritual and emotional needs of those counseled, including crisis intervention and bereavement.
• Participate in Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) curriculum and demonstrate a commitment to learning about the ministry of pastoral care, about oneself as a minister and the ways in which one's ministry affects those served.
• Document visits and interventions appropriately according to the standards of the healthcare organization.

Education

What minimum requirements you’ll need

• Bachelor's degree required.
• Master's degree in a Theology, Spirituality or related field preferred.
• 1 unit of Clinical Pastoral Education accredited by ACPE is preferred.
• Ordination or equivalency in faith group is preferred.

Work Experience

• 3 years of experience preferred.
