Job description

We are looking for a Change Manager to join our team, working across our Trusts (George Eliot Hospital and South Warwickshire University NHS Foundation Trust), Primary Care, and Innovate stakeholders, on digital and transformation projects and programmes.

Main duties of the job

As a Change Manager, you will be instrumental in driving change, collaborating with a diverse range of operational, clinical, and administrative stakeholders. This role will lead and drive the change management activities required to implement new business processes as part of embedding improvements, new digital solutions, and new ways of working. Your expertise will be critical in managing change and realising benefits.

Job responsibilities

Apply a structured change management methodology and lead change management activities with key responsibilities for:

  1. Planning and organising a broad range of complex activities, including influencing and adjusting plans to align project and operational wider plans and strategies.
  2. Implementing new ways of working, facilitating collaborative working, and capacity planning.
  3. Development and delivery of relevant impact assessments, plans, processes, and materials to enable the change, e.g., business readiness assessment, change sustainability plans, new processes, benefits realisation plans, and tracking.
  4. Support the implementation of Change plans and monitor progress of plans against success criteria, maintaining alignment to the business case as relevant.
  5. Input and support training requirements.
  6. Manage stakeholder engagement and communications in terms of change management, setup advocacy, and mobilise change agents or champions as required.
  7. Support stakeholder engagement and communication initiatives and identify and help to address any resistance.
  8. Ensure patient care is considered within change management plans/activity and that the patient perspective is a key driver in continuous improvement.
  9. Responsible for reporting on delivery of Change Workstreams, project change activities, and BAU initiatives as required.
  10. Influence and design services relating to patient care and patient/workflows, including administrative and operational workflows which have a direct impact on provision of services.
  11. Act as an effective change agent in the delivery of change workstreams and activities.
  12. Ensure change management delivery aligns with relevant organisational strategies, particularly with key delivery principles.
  13. Deliver new solutions within the context of wider service improvement programmes, the EPR programme, and strategic priorities.
  14. Support and contribute to long-term strategic planning and alignment relating to the change management programme across both Trusts, primary care, and all customers.
  15. Have an awareness of the ICB Integrated Care and Digital Strategies and understand interdependencies across organisations and digital programmes of work.
  16. Identify opportunities, resources, and obtain commitment for other information system projects that offer benefits to Digital Transformation and EPR Programmes.
  17. Analytical Skills
  18. Impact Assessments: Assess change impact and evaluate user readiness by conducting impact analyses, assess change readiness, and identify key stakeholders.
  19. Manage Risk & Issues: Identify, analyse, and prepare risk and issue mitigation. Make judgements and recommendations on risks and issues, considering complex and/or conflicting information, to produce options for resolutions or mitigating actions.
  20. Resistance to change: Identify and manage anticipated resistance using recognised change management tools and techniques.
  21. Measurement: Define and measure success metrics and monitor change progress. Support development and monitoring of benefits realisation plans, including metrics to report to stakeholders.
  22. Reporting: Ensure accurate and timely reporting of change to stakeholders at project and service levels, utilising systems for analytical and statistical reporting.
  23. Development: Plan and manage change activities within projects, establishing baselines, aligning change to benefits, and working closely with change and training teams, as well as clinical and operational users.
  24. Policy and Service Development: Input to policy and service changes impacting areas outside of own responsibility. Ensure PRINCE2 and/or alternative project management principles are followed and promote these principles within the project team. Follow and adhere to Innovate policies and procedures. Lead the implementation of PROSCI methodology in digital projects.
  25. Communication and Engagement: Deliver formal presentations and updates to various groups, explaining complex information clearly. Persuade stakeholders and decision-makers about proposed changes, fostering collaboration and managing resistance.
  26. Staff Management and Leadership: Provide leadership to teams involved in change initiatives. Demonstrate leadership that engages, enables, and empowers others, promoting ownership and collaboration. Manage Change Implementers as required.
Person Specification
What we are looking for in our people
  • Strong project management and organisational skills, with high awareness of project and programme management.
  • Good understanding and demonstrable knowledge of benefit management and change roles within it.
  • Excellent understanding of computer systems and digital transformation, ideally including hospital digital systems.
Qualifications
  • Educated to degree level or equivalent experience in major change programmes.
  • Evidence of continuous professional development.
  • Training or coaching qualification.
Experience
  • Experience and knowledge of change management principles, concepts, methodologies, and tools; able to advise on good practice approaches.
  • Experience in stakeholder management on complex/sensitive programmes with credibility and impact, and the ability to influence and gain buy-in for change.
