Summary
This critical communications role is dedicated to driving compelling employee communications and cultural change. The successful candidate will work directly with leaders and colleagues across the business, develop and deliver global change communication strategies and plans in support of the Change Management team and other global functions' programs. The role requires a communicator who can conceive and implement both strategy and tactical elements, cutting through the noise, crafting creative storytelling, and operating in a fast‑paced, collaborative environment. The incumbent reports to the OCM Lead for global regulatory affairs change management and will manage a team of change management consultants across the portfolio of regulatory change work.
Major Duties
- Develop a change communication plan and implement global employee communication strategies and tactics in support of global regulatory affairs communications and programs that drive cultural change, engagement and risk management.
- Drive employee connection to our purpose, the role of global regulatory affairs at the Bank, our strategic vision, beliefs and ways of working, and to their leaders and each other.
- Align communication strategies, plans, and activities to tell a cohesive story across the entire risk and controls enhancement program.
- Leverage a wide range of internal communications channels and tactics to inform, educate, and engage Northern Trust partners.
- Provide project management support including planning, tracking of key activities, ensuring timely delivery, and providing regular status reporting to program stakeholders and leadership.
- Manage a team of change management consultants in support of the risk and control enhancement program for global regulatory affairs.
- Collect planned communications, engagements and change impacts via standardized tools / templates.
- Work closely with the Change Learning Manager to map planned communications across projects to ensure cohesive change stories to impacted stakeholder groups.
- Ensure reviewers and approvers are understood and documented to enable an efficient content distribution process (i.e., SMEs, HR, Legal, Business Leaders).
Knowledge/Skills
- Bachelor’s degree or 7+ years of employee communications experience supporting enterprise‑wide programs.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills for all audiences, including senior leaders, on high‑sensitivity topics.
- Proven experience managing delivery of critical changes in complex environments.
- Ability to establish trust‑based relationships with stakeholders across the enterprise and to review, challenge, and raise awareness of key stakeholders.
- Expertise in developing and delivering impactful messages, rapidly weighing factors and complexities to guide and influence message development.
- Exceeds in verbal, written, and digital communications; achieves cut‑through with a succinct, approachable style.
- Works with communications partners across all businesses to understand employee audiences and adapts strategies to meet unique needs.
- Keen understanding of innovative and best‑practice communication channels, methodology, and measurement.
- Capacity to handle complex projects with multiple partners using influencing skills.
- Brings a business outcomes approach to communications work.
- Sets and continually manages Change Management expectations with team members and other stakeholders.
- Coaches, mentors, and leads project team members (project team and internal customers), educating each on processes, tools, and roles.
- Experience and knowledge of change management principles, methodologies, and tools.
- Proven track record working in large/complex multi‑location programs/projects.
- Team player who works collaboratively with and through others.
- Acute business acumen and understanding of organizational issues and challenges.
- Familiarity with project management approaches, tools, and phases of the project lifecycle.
- Experience with large‑scale organizational change efforts.
- Prosci Change Management Practitioner certification preferred.
