Mercer University School of Medicine is inviting applications for the Chair of the Biomedical Sciences Department on the Macon campus. This is a 12-month, full-time, tenure-track appointment with rank determined by credentials.

The Chair will lead a growing, multidisciplinary faculty involved in research and teaching, oversee program growth, and help secure external funding. Strong leadership, teaching, and research credentials are required.

Qualifications

• Leadership experience guiding a multidisciplinary faculty in research and teaching.
• Proven track record of excellence in biomedical research and scholarly output.
• Experience establishing independent, externally funded research programs.
• Familiarity with rural Georgia and medical education in a clinical setting.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership and administration of the Biomedical Sciences Department across all MUSM campuses.
• Oversee growth in programs, research infrastructure, and external funding.
• Teach Biomedical Sciences to medical students in various formats; collaborate with national organizations.
