Job summary

CLA is seeking a CFO to lead our State & Local Government CAAS practice in Central Illinois, with opportunities in Peoria, Champaign, Bloomington and Dixon. The SLG team will implement strategic initiatives to grow the team and scale outsourcing operations.

The ideal candidate has extensive accounting/finance experience in State & Local Government, strong leadership, and a track record of growing teams. This on-site role requires local travel and offers a compensation range aligned with Illinois

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree is required; combination of related experience may be accepted in lieu of degree.
8 years of relevant accounting/financial experience required.
Experience in State & Local Government is required.
Experience leveraging personal/professional networks for business development and building teams through growth.
CPA is not required but highly preferred.
Frequent local travel to/from client sites and occasional non-local travel may be required.

Responsibilities

Partner with client leadership on operational and strategic issues using financial analysis.
Monitor budgets and present operational metrics.
Develop knowledge of GAAP and financial/operational aspects of industries.
Ensure financial staff maintain records and monitor funds.
Manage cash flow, forecasting, and financial accounting.
Oversee capital planning, risk management, and board interactions.
Manage multiple client engagements and build strong client relationships.
