Job summary

CLA is seeking a CFO to lead the State & Local Government practice in Central Illinois, with opportunities in Peoria, Champaign, Bloomington, and Dixon. The role focuses on strategic initiatives, outsourcing scalability, and client leadership.

You will partner with client leadership, oversee budgets, cash flow, and capital planning, and drive growth across engagements while maintaining GAAP knowledge and strong team leadership.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required or equivalent
• 8 years of accounting/financial experience
• State & Local Government experience required
• Networking for business development and team growth experience
• CPA not required but highly preferred
• Frequent local travel to client sites, possible non-local travel

Responsibilities

• Partner with client leadership on operational/strategic issues with financial analysis
• Monitor budgets and present operational metrics
• Develop knowledge of GAAP and industry-specific financials
• Ensure staff maintain financial records and manage cash flow
• Direct capital planning, risk management, and board interactions
• Manage multiple client engagements and build client relationships
