Job summary

CLA is seeking a CFO to lead its State & Local Government (CAAS) practice in Central Illinois, with opportunities in Peoria, Champaign, Bloomington and Dixon. The position will drive growth and scale outsourcing operations across the region.

The CFO will partner with client leadership, oversee budgeting and financial planning, apply GAAP knowledge, and build strong client relationships while guiding teams through growth initiatives.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required; combination of related experience may be accepted.
• 8 years of accounting/financial experience required.
• Experience in State & Local Government required.
• Experience in using personal and professional network for business development and proven record of building and managing teams through growth.
• CPA is not required but highly preferred.
• Frequent local travel to/from client sites and may require occasional non-local travel.

Responsibilities

• Partner with client leadership on operational and strategic issues as they arise, with financial analysis of projections, cost identification and allocation, and revenue/expense analysis.
• Monitor budgets and present operational metrics.
• Develop full knowledge of GAAP and deep understanding of financial and operational aspects of specific industries.
• Ensure financial staff maintains financial record systems and monitors the use of funds; manage cash flow and forecasting.
• Manage capital planning, risk management, and board interactions.
• Effectively manage multiple client engagements; build strong client relationships and become a key member of client management teams.

About The Role

CLA is looking to hire a CFO to lead our growing State & Local Government (CAAS) practice in Central Illinois. Opportunities are available in our Peoria, Champaign, Bloomington and Dixon locations.

The SLG team has experienced significant growth over the past few years and this role will implement strategic initiatives to continue to grow the team and scale the outsourcing operations.

As a CFO You Will

• Frequently partner with client’s leadership on operational and strategic issues as they arise, providing recommendations based on financial analysis of projections, cost identification and allocation, and revenue/expense analysis.
• Monitor progress of budgets and present operational metrics.
• Develop full knowledge of GAAP and deep understanding of financial and operational aspects of specific industries.
• Ensure financial staff maintains financial record systems in accordance with appropriate principles and monitors the use of funds. Manage cash flow and forecasting, directing financial accounting.
• Manage capital planning, risk management, and board of director interactions.
• Effectively manage multiple client engagements. Build strong client relationships and become a key member of client management teams.

Job Requirements

• Bachelor's degree is required. Combination of related experience, education, and training may be accepted in lieu of degree.
• 8 years of relevant accounting and/or financial experience is required.
• Experience in State & Local Government is required.
• Experience in using personal and professional network for business development and proven record of building and managing teams through growth.
• CPA is not required but highly preferred.
• This position requires frequent local travel to/from client sites and may require occasional non-local or overnight travel for client visits, training, meetings and/or other business-related purposes.

The compensation range for this position in Illinois is: $108,000.00 – $192,000.00
