Job summary

Brewer Morris in Houston, TX, seeks an Accounting & Audit Advisory Manager to join the CFO advisory practice in a hybrid role. You will act as quarterback between clients and external auditors, managing the audit process and coordinating documentation and deliverables for high-stakes engagements.

The ideal candidate has 5–7+ years in external audit from Big 4 or national firms, CPA certification, and strong US GAAP knowledge.

Qualifications

• 5–7+ years of progressive external audit experience.
• Active CPA, CA, or equivalent certification.
• 3+ years of experience leading engagements, projects, or teams.
• Strong understanding of US GAAP and financial reporting.
• Experience coordinating PBC schedules, workpapers, and supporting analyses.
• Excellent client communication with CFOs and Controllers.

Responsibilities

• Liaise between client management, Controllers, accounting teams, and external auditors.
• Manage the audit process, including high volumes of PBC requests, supporting documentation, deadlines, and deliverables.
• Review PBC schedules, workpapers, reconciliations, financial analyses, and audit support.
• Explain audit requests and objectives to clients.
• Prepare and review audit-ready workpapers, account reconciliations, and supporting analyses.
• Identify discrepancies, documentation gaps, and potential audit issues.
• Coordinate with external auditors to clarify, consolidate, and address requests.
• Support US GAAP financial statements and footnote disclosures.
• Mentor junior staff and contribute to best practices.
• Support business development and client relationships.
