Qualifications

• Experience with CFD solvers (Fluent, OpenFOAM, Star CCM+) and post-processing for data-driven conclusions.

Responsibilities

What you’ll be able to do:

CFD Engineer - positions offered by Ford Motor Company (Dearborn, Michigan). Note, this is a hybrid position whereby the employee will work both from home and from the aforementioned worksite. Hence, the employee must live within a reasonable commuting distance from the worksite. Responsible for the 3D CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics) & Thermal analysis of the components of the vehicle AHSS (Air Handling Sub-System) during the product development process, optimizing the system responsible for delivering interior airflow to the customers of Ford Motor Company. These components include vehicle ductwork, registers, cowl intake, extraction path and HVAC unit. The AHSS development process includes applying advanced thermal/fluid modeling techniques through 3D Thermal/CFD analysis to deliver an HVAC system optimized for both energy and human comfort. Additionally, this role will be responsible for physical testing activities to enhance model correlation and predictability, interfacing with outside vendors to explore & validate new modeling technology and work cross-functionally within Ford to communicate simulation results across a broad range of functional teams such as the Design Studio, Body Interior & Exterior, Thermal Systems, Program Teams and Vehicle Architecture. Finally, the role will also be responsible for supporting updates to requirements, specifications and core quality documents based on lessons learned from modeling experience and for working with teams to develop new technologies related to interior airflow systems.

Qualifications

You’ll have...

Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in Mechanical Engineering or a related field and 2 years of experience in the job offered or a related occupation. 2 years of experience with each of the following skills is required: 1. Utilizing CFD Pre-processing software to Mesh and prepare CAD geometry for analysis including ANSA or T-Grid. 2. Utilizing CFD software including Fluent, OpenFOAM or Star CCM+ to execute and perform CFD analysis on various CAD geometry. 3. Utilizing CFD Post-Processing Software to analyze simulation results and draw data driven conclusions to drive part design direction. 4. Modeling heat transfer physics and understanding the pitfalls and challenges associated with 3D conjugate heat transfer. 5. Compiling and clearly communicating engineering data to a wide audience, including non-engineers. 1 year of experience with each of the following skills is required:1. Using CFD to model features intended for water management within a constrained geometry setting. 2. Correlating CFD data to physical test data, including identifying acceptable margins of error based on analysis context.

We are offering a salary of$121,659.12 - $149,022.60/yr.
