Job summary

Penn State University’s Applied Research Laboratory seeks a Division Head for the Computational Fluid Dynamics Division. The role leads ~15 engineers and researchers, developing business with ARL offices, industry, and sponsors.

On-site in State College, PA with possible hybrid arrangements; DoD and industrial collaborations are core. Minimum education includes a Master’s in Engineering/Science with 10+ years in CFD, PI experience, and leadership at a technical level.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree or higher in Engineering or Science and 10+ years of related experience.
  • Proven track record as a Principal Investigator in computational fluid dynamics.
  • Experience managing people and supervising staff.
  • Eligibility for access to classified information at Top Secret level or higher.

Responsibilities

  • Lead design and performance analyses using CFD tools for DoD and industrial projects.
  • Advance CFD capabilities, code development, V&V, and HPC optimization.
  • Provide technical oversight of complex simulations across the organization.
  • Lead CFD Division personnel management, recruitment, development, and retention.
