Job summary

Penn State University’s Applied Research Laboratory in University Park, PA is seeking a Division Head for the Computational Fluid Dynamics Division within the Fluid Dynamics and Acoustics Office. The role leads a team of engineers and research faculty to advance CFD tools for DoD and industrial sponsors, and to build strong programs across ARL.

The position includes leading design analyses, code development, V&V, HPC optimization, and technical oversight while mentoring staff and expanding

Qualifications

• Master’s degree or higher in an Engineering or Science discipline or higher plus ten years of related experience.
• Past success as a Principal Investigator in this field.
• Strong research track record in CFD with hydromechanics, hydroacoustics, maneuvering and controls.
• Experience managing people with supervisory responsibilities.
• Eligibility for access to classified information at Top Secret level or higher.

Responsibilities

• Lead and perform design and performance analyses using CFD tools for diverse applications.
• Lead technical developments in CFD, including code development, V&V, and HPC optimization.
• Provide technical oversight of complex simulations and cross-organizational collaboration.
• Perform organizational leadership including recruitment, development, and retention.
• Collaborate with ARL offices and sponsors to build research portfolios.
