Job summary

Global Power Components in Milwaukee, WI is seeking a Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) to own and administer the AWS welder certification program across the facility. This onsite, hands-on role collaborates with welders, Weld Leads, Weld Supervisors, Quality, and Production leadership to maintain high welding quality and adherence to procedures.

Ideal candidates hold current CWI certification (at least one year) and bring knowledge of AWS standards, MIG/MAG processes, and the ability to read

Qualifications

• Current Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) certification required.
• CWI certification held for at least one year preferred.
• Strong knowledge of AWS welding standards and inspection practices.
• Experience with heavy-gauge welding and fabrication preferred.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and weld symbols.

Responsibilities

• Own and administer the AWS welder certification and qualification process for the facility.
• Coordinate welder qualification testing and certification activities.
• Maintain records of welder certifications, qualifications, and test results.
• Monitor qualifications and identify needs for additional certification.
• Inspect welds and evaluate workmanship against drawings and specs.
• Coach welders on technique and welding quality.
• Support safety and quality initiatives on the shop floor.
• Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and welding documentation.
• Collaborate with Quality, Engineering, and Operations to resolve weld issues.
