Global Power Components in Milwaukee, WI is seeking a Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) for a hands-on, on-site role in our heavy fabrication environment. You will own the AWS welder certification program, supervise qualification testing, maintain records, and ensure weld quality meets drawings and welding procedures.

You will coach welders, coordinate with quality, engineering, and production leadership, and drive safety, accuracy, and continuous improvement across the welding department.

Qualifikationen

• Current CWI certification required.
• Must have held CWI certification for at least 1 year.
• Strong knowledge of AWS welding standards and welder qualification requirements.
• Experience in hands-on welding, fabrication, inspection or related manufacturing.
• Knowledge of GMAW (MIG/MAG) processes.
• Experience with heavy-gauge steel welding and fabrication.
• Ability to read and interpret drawings, weld symbols, specs, and procedures.
• Strong understanding of weld quality, defects, inspection methods, and corrective actions.
• Ability to make measurements and shop calculations for compliance.
• Strong documentation and recordkeeping skills.
• Strong troubleshooting and decision-making abilities.
• Excellent communication to coach welders and work with leadership.
• Detail-oriented, organized, and committed to high welding standards.
• Comfortable on the manufacturing floor in a fast-paced environment.

Aufgaben

• Own and administer the AWS welder certification and qualification process for the facility.
• Coordinate and conduct welder qualification testing and certification activities.
• Maintain accurate records of welder certifications, qualifications, test results, and status.
• Monitor welder qualifications and identify certification needs.
• Schedule testing and ensure documentation is complete.
• Verify welders work within procedures and qualification requirements.
• Perform visual weld inspections against drawings and specs.
• Identify defects and communicate findings to leadership.
• Collaborate with Weld Supervisors to address quality issues.
• Coach welders on technique and compliance with requirements.
• Assist leadership in determining training or qualification needs.
• Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, weld symbols, and procedures.
• Resolve welding-related quality concerns with Quality, Eng., and Ops.
• Support investigations into weld failures and rework.
• Maintain strong shop-floor presence as primary welder-certification resource.
• Promote safety, quality and continuous improvement in welding.
