Bridgetown Veterinary Emergency and Referral (BVER) is a multi-specialty hospital in Portland, Oregon! We are looking for a talented Certified Veterinary Technician with a strong interest in surgery.

Job Overview:We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Certified Veterinary Technician (Surgical Assistant) to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will assist in surgical procedures, provide perioperative care, and support our veterinary surgeons in delivering top-notch care to our patients. This position is a Monday-Thursday position, 8:00am-6:30pm.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist veterinarians during surgical procedures, ensuring a sterile and efficient environment.
  • Prepare surgical instruments, equipment, and supplies.
  • Monitor and maintain anesthesia under the supervision of the veterinarian.
  • Provide preoperative and postoperative care, including patient monitoring and recovery.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed medical records.
  • Perform laboratory tests, radiographs, and other diagnostic procedures as required.
  • Ensure cleanliness and organization of the surgical suite and equipment.
  • Educate pet owners about postoperative care and medication administration.
  • Assist with emergency cases as needed.
  • Participate in continuing education and training to stay current with veterinary surgical practices.
  • This position isnota primary anesthesia position, but on occasion some anesthesia may be required.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Certified Veterinary Technician (CVT) with a valid license in Oregon.
  • Minimum of 1 yearof experience in a veterinary surgical or emergency setting.
  • Proficient in anesthesia monitoring and surgical assisting.
  • Strong knowledge of veterinary medical terminology and procedures.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and high-pressure environment.
  • Compassionate and dedicated to providing the highest standard of care to patients.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods.
  • Dexterity to handle surgical instruments and equipment.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
