Job summary

Vetcor in Kiel, Wisconsin, seeks a Certified Veterinary Technician (CVT) or Experienced Veterinary Assistant to join our mixed-animal practice as a full-time team member. This role emphasizes high-quality patient care, client education, and teamwork on a four-day workweek with rotating Saturdays.

Candidates should have hands-on small animal experience, be comfortable with venipuncture, lab work, and radiography, and be ready to grow professionally with credential support and CE opportunities.

Qualifications

  • Two+ years small animal clinical experience preferred.
  • CVT, RVT, or LVT credential or Wisconsin credentialing eligible.
  • Excellent communication and client education skills.
  • Ability to lift up to 40 pounds and stand long hours.
  • Comfort with venipuncture, catheter placement, and lab procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Assist veterinarians with examinations, diagnostics, and treatments.
  • Provide compassionate nursing care to patients.
  • Perform venipuncture and sample collection.
  • Run laboratory procedures and diagnostic tests.
  • Take radiographs and assist with imaging.
  • Prepare patients and equipment for surgery.
  • Monitor anesthesia and vital signs during procedures.
  • Educate clients about preventive care and post-op instructions.
  • Maintain accurate medical records.
  • Collaborate with veterinarians and team to maintain workflow.

What Our Veterinary Technicians/Assistants Do
  • Assist veterinarians with examinations, diagnostics, treatments, and procedures
  • Provide compassionate, high-quality nursing care to patients
  • Perform venipuncture, catheter placement, and sample collection
  • Run and assist with laboratory procedures and diagnostic testing
  • Take high-quality radiographs and assist with diagnostic imaging
  • Prepare patients and equipment for surgical procedures
  • Monitor anesthesia and patient vitals throughout procedures and recovery
  • Assist with dental procedures
  • Administer medications, vaccines, fluids, and treatments as directed
  • Monitor hospitalized patients and provide supportive nursing care
  • Educate clients about preventive care, medications, treatment plans, and postoperative instructions
  • Maintain accurate and thorough medical records
  • Safely handle and restrain patients using compassionate techniques
  • Maintain clean, organized, and properly stocked treatment and patient-care areas
  • Collaborate with veterinarians and teammates to maintain an efficient daily workflow
What You’ll Bring
  • Certified Veterinary Technician candidates should hold a current CVT, RVT, or LVT credential or be eligible for credentialing in Wisconsin
  • Experienced Veterinary Assistant candidates should have strong hands‑on veterinary technical experience
  • Two or more years of small animal clinical experience preferred
  • Confidence with patient handling and restraint
  • Experience with venipuncture, catheter placement, and laboratory procedures
  • Dental experience preferred
  • Excellent communication and client education skills
  • Strong organizational and multitasking abilities
