Job summary

Kiel Veterinary Clinic is seeking a Certified Veterinary Technician (CVT) or experienced Veterinary Assistant for a full-time role. The position offers a four-day workweek with rotating Saturdays, competitive pay based on experience, and a strong emphasis on teamwork and client care.

Responsibilities

  • Assist veterinarians with examinations, diagnostics, treatments, and procedures.
  • Provide compassionate nursing care and assist with venipuncture, catheter placement, and labs.
  • Prepare patients and equipment for surgical procedures and monitor anesthesia and vitals.
  • Educate clients about preventive care and post-operative instructions.
  • Maintain accurate medical records and ensure clean, organized treatment areas.

What Our Veterinary Technicians/Assistants Do

  • Assist veterinarians with examinations, diagnostics, treatments, and procedures
  • Provide compassionate, high‑quality nursing care to patients
  • Perform venipuncture, catheter placement, and sample collection
  • Run and assist with laboratory procedures and diagnostic testing
  • Take high‑quality radiographs and assist with diagnostic imaging
  • Prepare patients and equipment for surgical procedures
  • Monitor anesthesia and patient vitals throughout procedures and recovery
  • Assist with dental procedures
  • Administer medications, vaccines, fluids, and treatments as directed
  • Monitor hospitalized patients and provide supportive nursing care
  • Educate clients about preventive care, medications, treatment plans, and postoperative instructions
  • Maintain accurate and thorough medical records
  • Safely handle and restrain patients using compassionate techniques
  • Maintain clean, organized, and properly stocked treatment and patient‑care areas
  • Collaborate with veterinarians and teammates to maintain an efficient daily workflow

What You’ll Bring

  • Certified Veterinary Technician candidates should hold a current CVT, RVT, or LVT credential or be eligible for credentialing in Wisconsin
  • Experienced Veterinary Assistant candidates should have strong hands‑on veterinary technical experience
  • Two or more years of small animal clinical experience preferred
  • Confidence with patient handling and restraint
  • Experience with venipuncture, catheter placement, and laboratory procedures
  • Strong anesthesia monitoring skills preferred
  • Dental experience preferred
  • Excellent communication and client education skills
  • Strong organizational and multitasking abilitiesAbility to work effectively in a fast‑paced clinical environment
  • Collaborative, team‑first approach
  • Dependability and strong attention to detail
  • A genuine passion for veterinary medicine and exceptional patient care
  • Ability to lift up to 40 pounds and remain on your feet for extended periods
