Overview

Well Pets Veterinary Clinic is looking for a Full-Time Certified Veterinary Technician to join our team! We are an AAHA-accredited, extended Urgent Care hours veterinary hospital operating in a new, state-of-the-art building. We offer a top-notch training program to support every level of veterinary assistant experience, ensuring the right candidate is set up for success. We’re looking for a compassionate, dependable certified veterinary technician to join our dedicated team. The ideal candidate must be comfortable working with people and animals, as client experience is a top priority. Strong verbal and written communication skills, teamwork, and the ability to perform well in stressful situations are essential.

Shift Details:
Must have mostly open availability that includes some weekends, some holidays, days and evenings.

Compensation:
$20 TO $24 per hour, based on experience

Job Summary:

The Veterinary Assistant supports the medical team by assisting with patient care, maintaining a clean and safe environment, and ensuring efficient hospital operations in accordance with Mission Veterinary Partners (MVP) hospital policies and procedures. This role also involves providing medical care to patients as allowed under the veterinary practice act.

Responsibilities:

Essential Functions:

• Maintain and uphold Core Values and Mission Statement of MVP.
• Provide guidance to support staff to ensure smooth shift operations.
• Mentor team members for career advancement and personal development.
• Contribute to performance evaluations for staff.
• Assist in providing patient care under supervision of a DVM.
• Maintain excellent client communication.
• Accurately record medical, client, and case information.
• Review medical records, estimates, or discharge instructions with clients.
• Handle client inquiries about basic animal care and routine procedures, referring complex questions to veterinarians.

Additional Functions:

• Assist with scheduling, payments, and client check-in.
• Answer phone inquiries courteously.
• Provide feedback on training programs.
• Participate in job shadows or working interviews as needed.

Qualifications:

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Proficiency in laboratory, pharmacy, radiology, surgery, dental, and nursing skills.
• Patience and composure in stressful situations.
• Ability to give SQ, IM, and IV injections.
• Knowledge of prescription drugs, anesthesia, and recovery states.
• Reasoning, memory, mathematics, and language skills.
• Confidence around pets.

Required Education and Experience:

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• State licensing as required.
• 1+ years of veterinary experience.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to perform physical tasks, lift weights, and work in noisy environments.
• Exposure to pets, anesthesia, radiation, biological hazards, and medications.
• Good vision, hearing, and hand-eye coordination.

Travel required: Minimal, possibly for vendor visits and education.
