Role Description The Certified Veterinary Technician role is a part-time to full-time, on-site position based at Hoboken Vets Animal Clinic in Hoboken, NJ. Day-to-day responsibilities include assisting veterinarians with examinations, diagnostics, and treatments, as well as performing routine nursing care such as handling, restraint, and monitoring of patients. The technician will support dental procedures and specialty surgeries, including preparing patients, maintaining sterile technique, and managing equipment. Additional duties include administering medications, performing laboratory tests, monitoring anesthesia and recovery, and maintaining accurate medical records. The role also involves educating clients on pet health, preventative care, and post-treatment instructions, while contributing to a clean, safe, and efficient clinical environment.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated skills in Animal Care and Pet Care, including handling, restraint, and basic nursing care.
• Proficiency in Veterinary Technology, such as laboratory procedures, imaging support, and medical recordkeeping.
• Experience or training in Anesthesiology, including patient monitoring, anesthesia induction, and recovery support.
• Ability to provide clear, compassionate Client Education on preventive care, treatment plans, and home care instructions.
• Current certification or licensure as a Veterinary Technician (or eligibility to obtain) in the state of New Jersey.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills, with a commitment to inclusive, non-discriminatory patient and client care.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced clinical setting, prioritize tasks, and maintain attention to detail.
• Comfort with technology and practice-management software; experience in small-animal practice is preferred.
