Overview

Douglassville Veterinary Hospital is seeking a Certified Veterinary Technician to join our team!


Location: 105 Griffith Drive, Douglassville, PA 19518


Compensation: $21 - $25 based on experience


Skills needed: Proficient in anesthesia monitoring, dental prophylaxis, venipuncture, and IV catheter placement. We require an individual who needs minimal training and can contribute effectively from the start.


Shift: 4/10's or 5/8's with rotating Saturdays.


Hospital Hours:


  • Monday - Thursday: 9:00 am - 8:00 pm
  • Friday: 9:00 am - 4:00 pm
  • Saturday: 9:00 am - 1:00 pm

Responsibilities

Major Duties:

  • In-patient medical care: administering medications, treatments, diagnostics, monitoring, IV catheter placement, blood draws, lab tests, IV fluids, and patient care activities.
  • Anesthesia/Surgery: preparation, induction, maintenance, monitoring, recovery, and sterilization of equipment.
  • Dentistry: patient dental care, ultrasonic cleaning, polishing, assisting in dental surgeries.
  • Radiology: positioning patients, assisting with radiographs, emailing images.
  • Laboratory duties: sample collection, preparation, testing, and result recording.
  • Client communication: updates, discharge instructions, follow-up.
  • Client education: teaching at-home care procedures.
  • Veterinary Technician appointments: blood draws, bandage changes, post-op checks, suture removals.
  • Clinic technician duties: assisting with outpatient appointments, room prep, patient check-in/out, vital signs, data entry.
  • Reception duties: answering phones, booking appointments, admitting/discharging patients.
  • Training and mentoring new team members.
  • Inventory control: restocking, unpacking supplies.
  • Prescription preparation: dispensing medications and refills.

Qualifications

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, climb, lift/carry up to 50 pounds, and work in noisy environments.
  • Experience working with animals, handling biological hazards, anesthesia, radiation, and medications.
  • Good hand-eye coordination, dexterity, and visual acuity for operating equipment and keyboards.
