Job summary

Heartland Veterinary Partners LLC in Dodgeville, WI is seeking a Credentialed Veterinary Technician to support veterinarians in anesthesia, surgery, dentistry, and patient care. You will handle lab tests, radiography, patient nursing, and client education to ensure seamless visits.

The role requires a state license as a veterinary technician, the ability to lift up to 25 pounds, and strong communication. The schedule is Monday and Wednesday 7:30 am–6 pm, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday 7:30 am–5:30

Qualifications

• State license to work as a certified/licensed/registered veterinary technician
• Ability to lift patients and carry equipment up to 25 pounds; with assistance over 25 pounds
• Practice OSHA safety techniques including proper PPE
• Basic computer skills, familiarity with MS Office applications
• Basic math and ability to calculate medication dosages
• Strong communication skills to ensure patient safety

Responsibilities

• Assist veterinarians in the practice of veterinary medicine and surgery and other tasks as needed
• Assist veterinarians in outpatient exams by taking histories, vital signs, and weights, plus client education
• Prepare patients for surgery and monitor vital signs during surgery
• Obtain blood, stool, and other samples; perform in-hospital laboratory testing and prepare specimens for outside laboratories
• Take, develop, and maintain radiographs following proper safety procedures
• Provide basic animal handling and restrain animals during exams
• Administer and monitor medications, anesthesia, vaccines, and treatments as directed by the veterinarian
• Clean and straighten exam rooms, treatment and lab areas; restock supplies and maintain equipment
• Demonstrate warmth and professionalism in all client interactions; show compassion for patients
• Communicate with veterinarians and team members including client discussions and plans
• Any other duties as assigned
