Qualifications

• Must hold a state license to work as a veterinary technician in the employment state.
• Ability to lift up to 25 pounds; assistive lifting over 25 pounds.
• Practice OSHA safety techniques including proper PPE.
• Basic computer skills (MS Office).
• Solid math skills to calculate medication dosages.
• Strong communication to ensure patient safety.

Responsibilities

• Assist veterinarians in veterinary medicine and surgery.
• Take histories, vital signs, and weights; educate clients during outpatient exams.
• Prepare patients for surgery and monitor vital signs during procedures.
• Collect blood, stool, and other samples; perform in-hospital lab testing.
• Take, develop and maintain radiographs following safety procedures.
• Handle and restrain animals during exams as needed.
• Administer and monitor medications, anesthesia, vaccines, and treatments.
• Keep exam rooms, treatment and lab areas clean and stocked; assist team members.
• Demonstrate warmth and professionalism in client and patient interactions.
• Communicate with veterinarians and team members about patient plans and concerns.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
