Job summary

Yorktown Central School District is seeking a Certified Teaching Assistant to support instructional staff and students under the supervision of a certified teacher. The CTA will work with individuals or small groups, assist with materials, and help in lesson delivery while maintaining important records.

The candidate must hold NYSD Certification as a Teaching Assistant and be able to assist in health-related activities and in programs across various subjects.

Qualifications

• NYSD Certification as a Teaching Assistant.
• Ability to carry out instruction furnished in written or oral form.
• Ability to understand, apply and use personal computers and software applications.
• Ability to work with a diverse group of individuals.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality of information regarding students, employees and others.
• Ability to establish supportive relationships with students with special needs.
• Ability to establish cooperative working relationships with staff and others.

Responsibilities

• Work with individual students or groups on instructional projects.
• Provide information about students to assist the teacher in learning and behavior planning.
• Assist students in using instructional resources and development of materials.
• Utilize skills in areas such as foreign languages, arts, crafts, music and similar subjects.
• Assist in related instructional work as required.
• Assist students with health related activities as appropriate.
• Maintain instructional materials and records (lessons, attendance, supplies).
• Perform general clerical tasks to help the teacher prepare materials.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
