Job summary

Yorktown Central School District is seeking a Certified Teaching Assistant to support classroom instruction under a Certified Teacher's supervision. The role requires NYSED Level I certification and completion of mandated workshops, with pathways to Level III within four years.

The CTA helps students individually or in groups, assists teachers with learning materials, and supports activities across languages, arts, and music while maintaining records and performing light clerical tasks.

Qualifications

• Must hold NYSED Level I Teaching Assistant Certification.
• Must obtain Level III within 4 years of appointment.
• Completion of required state workshops: Child Abuse Detection & Reporting, School Violence Prevention, and DASA.

Responsibilities

• Work with individual students or groups on instructional projects.
• Provide information about students to assist teacher planning.
• Assist students with instructional resources and materials development.
• Support in areas such as foreign languages, arts, crafts, music and related subjects.
• Maintain instructional materials, records and supplies.
• Perform general clerical tasks to help the teacher prep materials.
• Assist with health-related activities as appropriate.
• Other duties as assigned.
