Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree and current Florida teacher certification required.
• One year of experience with youth in education/mentoring settings.
• Experience with middle school youth preferred.
• Knowledge of SEL, trauma-informed practices, or behavior support preferred.
• Valid Florida driver's license; First Aid/CPR certification or ability to obtain.
• Must pass criminal background check and polygraph.

Job Summary

Job Posting End Date - Applications will no longer be accepted starting 09-16-2026 Salary: $25.00 Hourly Provides academic support, mentoring, Social Emotional Learning (SEL), and prevention-focused enrichment services to middle school youth participating in the Bubble Kids Program. The Teacher/Mentor helps students strengthen academic performance, emotional regulation, decision-making, positive peer relationships, resiliency, and connections with trusted adults. This position supports structured youth programming designed to provide early intervention for students experiencing academic, behavioral, attendance, or social challenges that may increase vulnerability to negative peer influence or substance misuse. Work is performed under the direction of the designated Program Manager and/or Site Supervisor.

Essential Functions

• Provide individualized and small-group academic tutoring and support.
• Assist students with study skills, organization, goal setting, and school engagement.
• Facilitate age appropriate SEL activities focused on self-awareness, emotional regulation, responsible decision-making, social awareness, and relationship skills.
• Serve as a positive adult mentor and build consistent, supportive relationships with participating youth.
• Facilitate prevention-focused activities that promote healthy choices, resiliency, and positive peer relationships.
• Maintain appropriate documentation of participation and student progress.
• Maintain professional boundaries, confidentiality, and appropriate standards of conduct.
• Participate in required training, program meetings, and professional development.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Knowledge of adolescent development, SEL, and positive youth development.
• Ability to build supportive relationships and effectively engage middle school youth.
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and classroom/group management skills.
• Ability to collaborate with families, school staff, program staff, and community partners.
• Ability to maintain required documentation and support program outcome tracking.

Working Conditions

Work may be performed in schools, recreation centers, community facilities, and other program locations. Some activities may occur outdoors and may involve exposure to heat, insects, and changing weather conditions. Occasional evening or special-event hours may be required.

Minimum Requirements

• Bachelor's degree and current Florida teacher certification required.
• One year of experience working with youth in an educational, recreation, mentoring, youth development, after-school, community-based, or related setting required; or an equivalent combination of related training and experience.
• Experience working with middle school youth preferred.
• Knowledge of or experience with SEL, youth mentoring, trauma-informed practices, positive youth development, behavioral support, or substance-use prevention preferred.
• Applicants must possess a valid Florida driver's license and be First Aid/CPR certified or able to obtain certification prior to employment.
• Must pass criminal background check and polygraph.

If this posting indicates a degree is required, the following experience will apply in lieu of any degree as follows: Two (2) years of direct experience for an associate degree; Four (4) years of direct experience for a bachelor's degree; Six (6) years of direct experience for a master's degree; or Nine (9) years of direct experience for a doctoral degree.

THIS IS A PART_TIME_POSITION WITH NO GUARANTEE OF A CERTAIN NUMBER OF HOURS AND NO BENEFITS. THIS POSITION INVOLVES WORKING ON A TEMP/SEASONAL CONTRACT WHICH CAN BE RENEWED ANNUALLY BASED ON PERFORMANCE AND BUSINESS NEEED.
