City of Orlando is seeking a part-time Teacher/Mentor to provide academic tutoring, mentoring, and SEL-based enrichment for middle school youth in the Bubble Kids Program. This role supports students facing academic, behavioral, or social challenges, under the guidance of the program manager and site supervisor.

The position requires a Bachelor's degree, Florida teacher certification, and the ability to pass a background check and polygraph.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Experience with middle school youth preferred.
  • Knowledge of SEL, youth mentoring, trauma-informed practices, and prevention preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide individualized and small-group academic tutoring and support.
  • Assist students with study skills, organization, goal setting, and school engagement.
  • Facilitate SEL activities focusing on self-awareness, emotional regulation, responsible decision-making, social awareness, and relationship skills.
  • Serve as a positive adult mentor and build consistent, supportive relationships with participating youth.
  • Facilitate prevention-focused activities promoting healthy choices, resiliency, and positive peer relationships.
  • Maintain documentation of participation and student progress.
  • Maintain professional boundaries and confidentiality.
  • Participate in required training and meetings.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
