Job summary

Dooly County Schools seeks a Certified Teacher to provide quality instruction at Dooly County Elementary. The role emphasizes planning, delivering, and assessing lessons aligned to state standards, with a focus on student growth and development.

The teacher will report to the Principal, work per district schedules, and may engage with both in-person and remote students as needed, while maintaining classroom discipline and professionalism.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher is required.
  • Valid Georgia professional certification is required in the assigned field.
  • Teaching experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Plans a program of study and writes and implements lesson plans that meet the students' needs and abilities.
  • Provides face-to-face instruction at the school.
  • May provide instruction to both in-person and remote learners as needed.
  • Maintains a productive classroom environment conducive to learning.
  • Performs administrative duties such as attendance, organizing the classroom, and recording grades.
  • Uses standards-based objectives to guide teaching and learning.
  • Communicates objectives to students and aligns lessons to curriculum goals.
  • Employs appropriate instructional methods and materials.
  • Assesses student progress and provides reports as required.
  • Uses state and local assessments and grades data to improve instruction.
  • Monitors learning disabilities with support from district specialists as needed.
  • Coordinates parent/teacher conferences to review student performance.
  • Consults with colleagues, students, and parents regularly.
  • Implements policies and classroom rules to maintain order and discipline.
  • Strives to maintain professional competence and ongoing development.
  • Ensures consistent attendance and reliability.
  • Participates in staff meetings and committees as required.
  • Builds cooperative relations to enhance school climate and morale.
  • Complies with all relevant regulations and policies.

Accountable to: Principal

Classification: Exempt

Primary Function: To provide appropriate learning experiences and educational opportunities based on knowledge of each child and plans for his/her development as mature, able, and responsible men and women.

Qualifications: As set by state certification authorities

  • 1. Bachelor’s Degree or higher
  • 2. Valid Georgia professional certification in assigned field
  • 3. Teaching experience preferred

Major Responsibilities and Key Duties:

  • 1. Plans a program of study and writes and implements lesson plans that meet the individual needs, interests, and abilities of students.
  • 2. Reports in person to the school building to provide face-to-face instruction to students.
  • 3. Able to provide instruction simultaneously to in-person and remote learning, if necessary.
  • 4. Creates a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of students.
  • 5. Performs various administrative duties such as taking attendance, organizing the classroom, and recording grades.
  • 6. Establishes and utilizes a standards-based classroom to guide teaching and learning for all students.
  • 7. Guides the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals and in harmony with the goals establishes clear objectives for all lessons, units, projects, and the like to communicate these objectives to students.
  • 8. Employs instructional methods and materials that are most appropriate for meeting stated objectives.
  • 9. Assesses the accomplishments of students on a regular basis and provides progress reports as required.
  • 10. Utilizes state and system-wide test results and local school grade profiles for developing and improving the instructional program for all students assigned to the teacher.
  • 11. Assesses the learning disabilities of students on a regular basis, seeking the assistance of district specialists as required.
  • 12. Coordinates parent/teacher conferences to review student's performance, behavior and other issues.
  • 13. Counsels with colleagues, students, and/or parents on a regular basis.
  • 14. Assists the administration in implementing all policies and/or rules governing student life and conduct, and for the classroom, develops reasonable rules of classroom behavior and procedure, and maintains order in the classroom in a fair and just manner.
  • 15. Strives to maintain and improve professional competence.
  • 16. Ability to be regularly, reliably, and predictably be at work.
  • 17. Attends staff meetings and serves on staff committees as required.
  • 18. Establishes and maintains cooperative relations with others. Enhances the climate of the building and the morale of colleagues.
  • 19. Complies with school, system, state and federal regulations and policies, including the PSC Code of Ethics, as related to job requirements.
