Job summary

The YMCA of Greater Cleveland is seeking a Swim Instructor to plan and deliver lessons using the YMCA swim curriculum. The role emphasizes professionalism, punctuality, and care for participants and families within a supervised program area.

Instructors must maintain safety, manage class flow, and communicate clearly about cancellations, while staying current with required trainings and certifications. This position supports association events and upholds YMCA values.

Qualifications

• Public speaking ability and strong customer service orientation.
• At least 6 months of aquatic instruction experience preferred.
• CPR and First Aid within 30 days of hire; WSI/YSI preferred or obtained within 90 days.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrate swim skills and explain them clearly to class members.
• Plan each class in advance and start on time with proper materials.
• Maintain safety and follow YMCA guidelines and policies.
• Evaluate participants and place them in appropriate class levels.
• Keep the pool area neat, clean and sanitized; inform about cancellations.
• Support program events and coordinate substitutes when needed.
