The Surgical Technologist provides technical expertise and patient care assistance to support the delivery of quality care to patients in the Operating Room (OR).
This is a full-time position working Monday to Friday, 7:00 am - 5:00 pm, at our Plymouth Orthopedic Surgery Center. No weekend or holiday work is required.
Twin Cities Orthopedics is part of Infinite Health Collaborative (i-Health), a group of local medical practices owned and led by physicians, dedicated to giving patients more control over their healthcare.
Essential Functions:
- Assist with obtaining equipment and supplies for scheduled procedures and prepare the surgical suite.
- Prepare sterile instrument tables, ensuring instruments and supplies are clean and functional.
- Ensure all necessary instruments and supplies are available, complete, and accounted for prior to incision.
- Create and maintain an aseptic environment throughout the intraoperative process.
- Assist surgeons and surgical team members during procedures.
- Anticipate the needs of the surgical team based on knowledge of procedures.
- Label medications according to departmental policies.
- Operate specialty instruments, supplies, and equipment for various surgical procedures.
- Handle specimens according to policies and procedures.
- Clean and return instruments and equipment used during procedures.
- Assist with cleaning the OR between cases and after the last case of the day.
- Support the Circulating Nurse during surgeries.
- Decontaminate, inspect, and prepare instruments for sterilization.
- Collaborate with other disciplines to maximize patient outcomes.
- Report occurrences related to employee or patient/visitor events.
- Participate in ongoing education and training, including mentoring and precepting.
- Assist in managing costs by using resources efficiently.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience Requirements:
- Graduate from an accredited surgical technology program preferred.
- Surgical Technologist Certification preferred.
- One year of OR experience in the last three years preferred.
- Membership in A.S.T. preferred.
- Current BLS certification or to be completed upon hire.

- Starting pay varies based on education, skills, and experience.
- A $3,500 sign-on bonus is offered, payable upon the first paycheck with a 12-month commitment. Internal applicants are not eligible.

- Travel as needed within the facility; capable of bending, lifting, standing, and sitting for long periods.
- Lifting up to 25 pounds frequently, up to 50 pounds occasionally.
- Work efficiently, handle interruptions, and meet deadlines.
