Job Description

The Surgical Technologist provides technical expertise and patient care assistance to support the delivery of quality care to patients in the Operating Room (OR). This full-time position involves 10-hour shifts, 4 days per week (Monday-Friday), with no weekend, holiday, or on-call work. The role is based at our Plymouth Orthopedic Surgery Center.

Essential Functions
  • Assist with obtaining equipment and supplies for procedures and preparing the surgical suite.
  • Prepare sterile instrument tables, checking instruments and supplies for cleanliness and functionality.
  • Ensure all instruments and supplies are available and complete before incision.
  • Maintain an aseptic environment throughout the intraoperative process.
  • Assist surgeons and surgical team members during procedures, anticipating their needs.
  • Label medications according to departmental policies.
  • Operate specialty instruments, supplies, and equipment.
  • Handle specimens according to policies.
  • Clean and return instruments and equipment used during cases.
  • Assist with cleaning the OR between cases and after the last case.
  • Support the Circulating Nurse during procedures.
  • Decontaminate and sterilize instruments.
  • Collaborate with other disciplines to optimize patient outcomes.
  • Report incidents or occurrences as per the reporting process.
  • Participate in continuing education and skill development.
  • Assist in managing costs by resourceful use of supplies.
Qualifications
  • Graduate from an accredited surgical technology program preferred.
  • Surgical Technologist Certification preferred.
  • One year of OR experience in the last 3 years preferred.
  • Current member of the A.S.T. preferred.
  • Current BLS certification or to be completed upon hire.
Benefits & Compensation

Starting pay varies based on education and experience. A $1,500 sign-on bonus is offered with a 12-month commitment. Benefits include Medical, Dental & Vision plans, Maternity Bundle, 401K with Profit Sharing, Tuition Reimbursement, and discounts on gym and car rentals.
